THAT TRIAL IS HAPPENING INSIDE THE FEDERAL COURTHOUSE IN DOWNTOWN WINSTON-SALEM, AND SEVEN WITNESSES TOOK THE STAND TODAY THAT INCLUDED THOSE WHO VOLUNTEER WITH OR COORDINATE VOTER OUTREACH AND CIVIL RIGHTS WORK. THEY TESTIFIED ALONG WITH PROFESSORS FROM UNC, GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY AND PRINCETON UNIVERSITY, WHO SPOKE ABOUT THE IMPACTS RACE HAS HAD ON NORTH CAROLINA’S DISTRICT MAPS.       The third day of the trial over North Carolina's local and congressional district maps has concluded.The trial is happening inside the federal courthouse in Winston-Salem. Seven witnesses took the stand on Wednesday.That included those who volunteer with or coordinate voter outreach and civil rights work. They testified along with professors from UNC-Chapel Hill, Georgia State University, and Princeton University, who spoke about the impact race has had on North Carolina's district maps.A ruling is expected in August, and could impact voting districts for the 2026 midterms.
