
Morocco One Of Brazil’S Footwear Suppliers
According to data from Abicalçados, there was a decrease in the average value of the pair exported by Morocco to Brazil in the year-over-year comparison-in February last year, the average value was USD 48.78, while this year's, it was USD 16.45, a decline of 66.3%. Morocco was the 17th supplier to Brazil.
Brazil's total footwear imports amounted to USD 49.4 million in February, showing a 7.5% decrease compared to the same month in 2024. The volume was 4.5 million pairs, an increase of 11.3% in the same comparison. In the first two months of the year, Brazil imported USD 97.43 million, with a 7.4% growth. In volume, 7.9 million pairs were imported, a 14.1% increase compared to the same period last year. China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Paraguay were Brazil's top suppliers.
Brazil's exports grow this yearBrazil is a footwear exporter itself and saw growth in shipments at the beginning of this year. In February, USD 85.9 million worth of footwear was exported, an increase of 8.9% compared to the same month last year, with a total of 9.6 million pairs, a volume increase of 18.9%. In the first two months, exports totaled USD 174.2 million, a 2.7% increase compared to the first two months of 2024. The leading destinations of exports this year have been the United States, Argentina, Mexico, and Spain.
In the note from Abicalçados, the president of the institution, Haroldo Ferreira, attributes the performance in the first months of the year to a weak comparison base in 2024 and to the fact that the depreciated real in relation to the dollar favors exports.
