A TikTok star from England has described the village of Solva, which has previously been named one of Britain's most beautiful and among the poshest in Wales, as being pretty "depending on the weather" but "definitely not posh".

Phil Carr is known as @philc84 on TikTok where he has gathered a following of 849,000 users from posting tongue-in-cheek reviews of UK towns after joining the platform during the pandemic. He came to Solva after it was included in Condé Nast Traveller’s list of the UK’s 20 most beautiful towns and villages and was praised for its joyous appearance and for adding "a flash colour to the Pembrokeshire coast" even on the greyest of days. Phil filmed himself exploring the village. "First up, is it pretty?" he said in the video which has currently been watched 265,000 times. "Well like lots of places in the UK, it depends on the weather and the angle you're looking at it from. In the summer, with carefully chosen photos for the 'Gram, it looks amazing." Filming clips around the village, including its colourful cottages, as well as taking to the beach to film the sights of the fishing boats and impressive cliffs, he said in his voiceover: "Wales do coastlines really well, in fact all the Celtic nations do to be fair. "

When he reached the top of one of the cliffs, he added; "This is absolutely stunning, I could sit up here all day, just a camping chair, a box of Peroni, a tube of Pringles and some 5G and I'd be happy."

The village is known for its cafes and restaurants serving up delicious local produce and its cute houses, although Phil wasn't overly impressed. He said: "Solva is a pretty standard setup. It's normal holiday houses at the back and holiday rentals at the front. Is it posh? No. It takes more than a couple of art galleries and some entitled baby boomers who strut around the pubs behaving like they earned the money they got from downsizing their houses to make a place posh."

Phil also went to visit a few pubs in the village. He noted: "I took on the Solva pub crawl. There's four pubs in the village. One takes itself a little bit too seriously but the baby boomers are lapping it up. The next one seemed nice enough. The one after that was a very traditional pub and fine by me. And the one down on the harbour was a right laugh."
