Ducati has decided to follow the eco-friendly route and has announced the inclusion of electric motorcycles and a scooter to its range within the coming four years.

Renowned Italian bike maker Ducati has plans to introduce electric bikes and a scooter in the coming years. The company’s eco-friendly offerings will hit the markets by 2021 and these words have been confirmed by Ducati itself. When talking of a mass market bike, Ducati clearly refused to enter the segment at the moment. Any details regarding the Ducati electric bikes and scooter are currently unavailable at the moment but one can safely assume that the offerings will be as exciting as the manufacturer’s other models. The upcoming Ducati electric bikes and scooter will definitely help the consumers cope up with the ever rising fuel prices and avoiding degradation to the environment. If we talk precisely, this is what exactly Edouard Lotthe, who is the Managing Director at Ducati Western Europe told the folks at MotoStation during an interview, “Today, the things that have been confirmed, yes, Ducati will be entitled to electrification, yes Ducati will have the scooter in its range. This range extension will not arrive before 2021.”

“Today, several things have been confirmed, the electrification has been launched within the group. Rupert Stadler  said that if a scooter arrived, he would check in person that he was really like a Ducati. So yes, if this future complement range comes, it will certainly be proposed under the coat of arms Ducati. After, for the rest, to know if this future vehicle will be proposed also within the automobile, I have no key information to date on the question. Before that, our strong short term maturity is today the Euro 5 standard”, the top honcho further added.

Ducati has recently showcased some interesting models at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The centre of attraction was the long awaited Ducati V4 Panigale that now happens to be the most powerful motorcycle in the manufacturer’s line up. Also, the bike has been voted as the ‘most beautiful bike’ at the annual event.

Talking of domestic scenario, The Government of India also looks serious towards eco-friendly mobility and aims to make the country running completely on electric vehicles by the year 2032. As a result of this, some leading auto manufacturers have even started working in this direction. Hero MotoCorp has invested over Rs 200 crore in Ather Energy, a Bengaluru-based start up responsible for manufacturing high performance electric scooters. Bajaj Auto will be coming up with its Urbanite brand that will be exclusively for electric vehicles and its operations will start sometime before the year 2020. TVS is also no behind in this regard and has started testing its Jupiter-based electric scooter that is expected to hit the market sometime next year.
