The Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Bulgaria has called on the state to introduce a subsidy of 5000 Euro for the purchase of an electric car and 2500 euros for a plug-in hybrid models. For those cars VAT will not be paid and the cost will be reduced by 20 per cent, media reported. The requests was submitted to the Ministry of Economy. At present, electric car owners are exempt from paying only local tax. In addition, in Sofia and some other cities parking is free of charge.
